The training laboratory stand is dedicated for studying the structure, operating principle, setting process and programming the industrial frequency converter, as well as for studying the working characteristics of the system “frequency converter – asynchronous motor”.

Structurally the stand consists of two parts:
  • housing with installed electrical equipment, electronic cards, front panel, integrated tabletop;
  • machine unit, which includes an asynchronous electric motor with a squirrel-cage rotor, a DC electric motor of independent excitation and an optical speed sensor with determination of the rotation direction.

 The stand housing accommodates:

  • frequency converter designed to form a three-phase alternating current network of controlled frequency and voltage;
  • direct current converter dedicated to control DC motor;
  • measuring system dedicated for measuring and displaying motor parameters under study (current, voltage, electric power, speed, mechanical moment);
  • position controller for researching an asynchronous electric motor in servo mode.

At the front panel of the stand are placed:

  • frequency converter controls;
  • controls of DC converter;
  • controls of start-controlling equipment;
  • measuring system indicators;
  • connection sockets;
  • USB connector for PC connection.

The stand is accompanied with:

  • set of methodical and technical documentation for teaching stuff;
  • software.

Experiments provided

  1. Investigation of the interface functions of the frequency converter.
  2. Review of functions for frequency converter.
  3. Studying mechanical and electromechanical characteristics asynchronous motor with mechanical and electromechanical characteristics of asynchronous motor with squirrel-cage induction motor.
  4. Determination of power losses in the steady state operation of an asynchronous electric motor (building an energy diagram.
  5. Studying mechanical characteristics of an open-loop system FC-AM.
  6. Studying the control characteristics of an open system FC-АM.
  7. Studying the slip compensation effect in an open system FC-АM.
  8. Study of the energy parameters of an open system FC-AM.
  9. Studying the closed system FC-AM with vector control.
  10. Study of energy indicators of a closed system FC-AM.
  11. Transient study in the system FC-А
  12. Studying FC-AM operation as a source of moment.
  13. Frequency converter control by built-in PLC.
  14. Studying positioning algorithms in the FC-AM system.
