The experimental unit is designed for investigation of heat transfer with natural convection around a cylinder with its horizontal or vertical position.

The experimental unit is assembled on the basis of welded metal basement with a hollow steel pipe installed on it. A tubular heating element is located inside the pipe. The gap between the pipe walls and the heating element is filled with steel shot. The unit is equipped with sensors for measuring the temperature of the outer surface of the pipe. Fasteners allow fixing the unit on the stand’s panel in horizontal or vertical position.  Wires from the sensors and from the heater are collected into a single cable connected to the control and measuring system of the stand.
