The training laboratory stand is designed for conducting experiments to study the operation of GSM modems with GPS function using the example of a quad-band GSM/GPRS/GNSS module Quectel MC90.

The stand is made in tabletop form and internally contains:

  • Electronic modules.
  • Power supply unit.

On the front panel, a schematic diagram of the GSM/GPS module is displayed, along with:

  • Connectors with output signals.
  • Indicator LEDs.
  • SIM card slot.

The rear panel contains:

  • AC power cord.
  • Fuse.
  • Power switch.
  • USB interface connector.
  • GPS antenna connector.
  • GSM antenna connector.

The stand allows users to develop basic skills in working with GSM/GPS modems using the Quectel MC90 quad-band GSM/GPRS/GNSS/Wi-Fi module. The Quectel MC90 module supports hybrid positioning technologies, including GNSS, Cell ID, and Wi-Fi. It is based on the MTK MT2503 platform and supports dual SIM single standby functionality. The stand also enables the study of UART operation at the signal level using a logic analyzer and dedicated software.

The laboratory stand comes with:

  • A set of teaching and technical documentation intended for the teaching staff.
  • Software.

Experiments provided

  1. Studying the UART interface and basic AT commands. Introduction to GSM network operation.
  2. Working with a SIM card, making calls. GSM/GPRS commands.
  3. Sending and receiving SMS, working with USSD.
  4. Proprietary commands.
  5. Power consumption modes and power management.
  6. Studying the principles of GNSS operation.
  7. GPS “cold start” and A-GPS technology.
