The training laboratory system is designed for laboratory experiments in “Electrical measurements” educational course.

Structurally, the training system consists of a case with electric equipment installed inside, electronic boards and units, a front panel and an integrated desktop.

Has two h/w versions: full size bench top version and table version.

The following equipment is located inside:

  • phasemeter and low frequency oscillation generator board.;
  • MLT-2 load resistor board with the following rating: 180 Ohm, 240 Ohm, 330 Ohm, 510 Ohm;
  • PEVR-100 load resistor unit, 330 Ohm;
  • OSM-01 transformer, which is an inductive element during laboratory experiments – 3 pcs;
  • MBGO capacitor unit, 2, 4, 10 μF;
  • incandescent lamps unit, 220 V, 60 W, which is used as a load during the study of electricity meter;
  • laboratory auto transformer (LATR) 0,1 kW;
  • rectifier of the voltage regulated by LATR 2 A.

On the front panel there are electrical circuits of objects investigated. All diagrams depicted on the panel are divided into groups in accordance with the subject of ongoing laboratory work. The panel is equipped with switching sockets, pointer instruments, switching equipment, as well as controls that allow changing the parameters of elements during laboratory experiment.

The controls:

  • LATR switch, which allows to set the following voltage values: 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 80, 100, 120, 140, 180, 220 V;
  • potentiometer of additional resistance in the rectified current circuit;
  • master potentiometer of a low-frequency generator for regulating the frequency of a sine curve within 30 … 300 Hz.

To conduct laboratory experiment, it is necessary to assemble a circuit of the object using unified jumpers, which allow to conveniently observe the circuit.

Measurements are made using pointer switchboard instruments. There are 9 panel meters:

  • investigated DC device (measurement limit 5 mА, accuracy class 1,5) – 1 pc.;
  • DC current meter (measurement limit 30 mA, accuracy class 1,5) – 1 pc.;
  • DC voltmeter (measurement limit 1/100 V, accuracy class 1,5) – 1 pc.;
  • AC current meter (measurement limit 0,1/0,5А, accuracy class 2,5) – 1 pc.;
  • AC current meter (measurement limit 2 А, accuracy class 2,5) – 1 pc.;
  • AC voltmeter (measurement limit 250 V, accuracy class 2,5) – 1 pc.;
  • AC wattmeter (measurement limit 50 W, accuracy class 2,5) – 1 pc.;
  • phasemeter (scale ±100 degr., accuracy class 2,5) -1 pc.;
  • single-phase electricity meter (current 10…40 А, accuracy class 2,0) – 1 pc.

The training systems is supplied with:

  • testing program for student admission to the laboratory work. Knowledge of theory and work content is checked in the process of testing. Consequently, the student gets a mark;
  • a set of teaching materials and technical documentation intended for the teaching staff.

Experiments provided

  1. The test of technical ammeter of magnetoelectric system.
    Object of study: current meter of the magnetoelectric system. The circuit and methods of checking the ammeter are studied, the accuracy class of the verified current meter is determined.
  2. The test of voltmeter of magnetoelectric system.
    Object of study: voltmeter of the magnetoelectric system. The circuitry and methods of checking the voltmeter are studied, the accuracy class of the voltmeter being verified is determined.
  3. The test of wattmeter of electrodynamic system.
    Object of study: wattmeter of an electrodynamic system. The circuit and methods of checking the wattmeter are studied, the accuracy class of the verified wattmeter is determined.
  4. The test of single-phase electric power counter.
    Object of study: single-phase meter of electric energy. We study a calibration scheme for a single-phase meter by the method of separate voltage and current circuits, as well as the operation of the counting mechanism. It is necessary to find the actual constant of the counter and its error at various loads, as well as to determine the threshold of sensitivity of the counter and the lack of self-propelled.
  5. Expansion of the current meter measurement range.
    Object of study: current meter of the magnetoelectric system. Methods of expanding the limits of measurement of ammeters are studied, the resistance of shunts is being calculated.
  6. Expansion of voltmeter measurement range.
    Object of study: voltmeter of the magnetoelectric system. Methods of expanding the limits of measurement of voltmeters are studied, the resistance of additional resistors is calculated.
  7. Resistance measurement by indirect method.
    Object of study: resistance of small magnitude. We study resistance determination schemes by the method of a voltmeter and an ammeter. The measurement error is estimated for various methods of turning on the voltmeter and ammeter.
  8. The study of power coefficient cos(φ) at various types of load.
    Object of study: single-phase R-L-C load in various combinations. It is required to learn how to measure cos (φ) with a phase meter and determine its value by calculation. Investigate the effect on the magnitude of cos (φ) of the magnitude and nature of the loads.
  9. The study of inductance by indirect method.
    Object of study: inductive elements. An indirect method of measuring inductance is being studied.
  10. The study of active power in three-phase circuits.
    Object of study: 3-phase circuit with R-L load. The basic methods for measuring active power in 3-phase circuits using single-phase wattmeters are studied, the device and the principle of operation of 3-phase wattmeters are studied.
  11. The study of voltages, currents and frequencies with electric oscilloscope.
    Object of study: oscilloscope. It is necessary to study the device and the operating rules of electronic oscilloscopes, to master the methods of measuring the amplitude of continuous and pulsed signals with an oscilloscope.
