The training laboratory unit is designed to investigate of polarized light of semiconductor laser, determine Brewster’s angle when laser light is falling on the glass plate, determine the refractive index of glass and verification of Malus’s law.

Structurally the training laboratory equipment consists of an experimental unit, control unit and measuring block as well.
The stand is performed as two optical benches connected by the lever mechanism with each other. Lever mechanism allows to vary the beam pitch angle in the range of 50…120°. 
The following items are installed on the optical bench: 
  • semiconductor laser radiator of visible light;
  • screen;
  • glass;
  • system of two polarizers with adjustable polarization vector;
  • screen with light detector;
  • angular scale, which allows to determine laser beam pitch angle.
The experimental unit contains control and measurement system designed for measurement of photodetector current and light source power supply. 

The training system is supplied with technical and methodical documentation for teaching staff.

  1. Study of Brewster’s law.
  2. Study of Malus’s law.
